MADISON, Wis. — Today, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin (PPAWI) announced its endorsement of Governor Tony Evers’ reelection campaign.

Statement from Tanya Atkinson, President of PPAWI:

“PPAWI is proud to endorse Governor Tony Evers’ reelection campaign. During his first term in office, Governor Evers has shown the people of Wisconsin exactly who he is: a champion for women’s health and a leader who will fight to ensure that everyone has access to the health care they need, when they need it. The stakes if this year’s elections couldn’t be higher for Wisconsin, with the U.S. Supreme Court poised to overturn Roe v. Wade and the possibility that Wisconsin’s criminal abortion ban could go into effect. Not only has Governor Evers championed the repeal of Wisconsin’s criminal abortion ban, he has also actively protected access to abortion and other reproductive health care by vetoing nine bills that would have restricted access to reproductive health care. Governor Evers is the only candidate for Governor who believes everyone should have the freedom and power to control their own bodies and lives.

Governor Evers’ leadership has been essential to promoting the health and well-being of the patients and communities served by Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, and during his time in office, he has led to champion investments in women’s health. His “Healthy Women, Healthy Babies” budget proposals were historic proposed investments to improve women’s access to preventative care such as cancer screenings, support healthier pregnancies and births, and address racial disparities in maternal and child health.
