teaching-studentsMADISON – February 27 – March 3 is Public Schools Week – a week to highlight and support the critical work of Wisconsin’s public schools. Senate Democratic Leader Melissa Agard (D-Madison) released the following statement:

melissa-agard“Great public schools are the cornerstone of our communities and the foundation of a strong state. Our public schools, teachers, and administrators work diligently to ensure that every student is provided with a superb education and the opportunity to reach their full potential. Beyond academic success, teachers also work to ensure their students are welcomed, safe, and represented in the classroom. Our children and students are our future, and it is the responsibility of lawmakers to ensure that they have every opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive. Wisconsin Democrats are working to ensure that this is a reality in our state.

“Governor Evers’ proposed 2023-25 budget provides a meaningful investment in public education at every level and provides our schools with the support necessary to succeed. From investments in financial literacy and the education workforce to expanded mental health access and universal school meals, the Governor’s budget reflects the requests that have been made time and time again by students, teachers, and parents.

“Public schools should be lifted up every day, but during this week especially, let’s celebrate the significant accomplishments of our public schools, recognize the dedicated work of educators and staff, and recommit to bettering the lives of Wisconsin children and students.”
