Gov. Evers Supports $2,000,000 State Investment to Strengthen Wisconsin’s Tourism Economy GREEN BAY, WI – Governor Tony Evers joined Senator Dave Hansen and Representative Staush Gruszynski today for a press conference at Hinterland Brewing in the Titletown District to announce LRB-4019/1, legislation that will complete funding for the Experience Greater Green Bay Visitor Center project with a $2,000,000 state investment. “Senator Hansen and I have authored a bill that will provide state support to finish the funding for the Experience Greater Green Bay Visitor Center. With partners in our community and the hard work of our Convention and Visitors Bureau staff, $5,000,000 of funds have already been raised. This bill will provide the final $2,000,000 to fund this public-private partnership that will promote state, regional, and local tourism in addition to highlighting job opportunities to Brown County’s 5.7 million annual visitors. We are thankful for the Governor’s support and I look forward to continuing to advocate for this project alongside the range of committed local stakeholders who joined us today,” Gruszynski said. “It is unfortunate that the Republicans in Madison deleted funding for this project that was contained in Governor Evers budget. However, it is my hope that our Republican colleagues from our area will work with us to restore this much-needed funding for this worthwhile project,” said Hansen. |
