MADISON, Wis. — Today, Heartland Signal reported on how Eric Hovde and his plan to ban abortion has been backed by one of the most extreme anti-abortion groups in the country. The group wants to ban abortion from conception, has called medication abortion “baby pesticides,” and compared abortion to child sacrifice.

Hovde has declared he is “totally opposed to abortion,” pushed to overturn Roe v. Wade, and would be a vote for a national abortion ban. He also recently said college-aged women are “single-issue” voters on abortion.

Heartland Signal: Eric Hovde endorsed by ‘unapologetically’ anti-abortion group

• Wisconsin Republican Senate candidate Eric Hovde received an endorsement Saturday by a staunch anti-abortion organization, calling into question his supposed support for exceptions.

• Over the weekend, Hovde’s name appeared on Campaign for Working Families’(CWF) list of endorsed political candidates (Hovde’s campaign has yet to acknowledge the endorsement.) According to its website, CWF is a “unapologetically pro-family, pro-life and pro-growth” organization dedicated to electing anti-abortion candidates since 1998.

• The group has endorsed the end of all abortion, referred to medication abortion as “baby pesticides” and called the end of Roe v. Wade an opportunity to celebrate.

• Hovde’s campaign did not respond to multiple requests from Heartland Signal to comment on if he accepts the endorsement and if he agrees with the CFW’s views on abortion rights.

• In addition to a streaky record on abortion rights, Hovde has been critical of the morning-after pill. During a WisPolitics Luncheon in August, Hovde falsely equated the morning-after pill to abortion before comparing the pill to “hard narcotics” trafficking. Days later, Hovde was asked how he plans to appeal to female voters in a Newsmax interview. His response was that if he doesn’t “have something good to say about somebody, I just don’t say it,” supposedly a dig at his opponent Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D).

• Hovde has routinely attacked Baldwin, with some of his ads highlighting the senator’s personal life. And after his failed Senate run in 2012, Hovde appeared on ”The Jerry Bader Show” in 2016 where he was again critical of women for supposedly focusing too much on Hollywood to care about civics.
