STEVENS POINT, WI – This week, State Rep. Katrina Shankland released her ninth ad across TV and multiple mediums in advance of the August 13 Democracy primary election for Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District. The ad highlights Shankland’s record working to lower prescription drug prices in the State Legislature, where she co-sponsored, co-authored, and passed six bills addressing the issue.

Script: Drug companies are making record profits while our families struggle. As a state lawmaker, I’ve passed bills to cut prescription drug costs. I’m Katrina Shankland, and I approve this message because in Congress, I’ll work with anyone to negotiate lower drug prices.

In her campaign to unseat Van Orden, Shankland has amassed endorsements from the Wisconsin State AFL-CIO, 16 unions, Congressmen Mark Pocan and Eric Sorensen, former Congressman Dave Obey, more than four dozen state and local elected officials, End Citizens United, Social Security Works, and United Rural Democrats. Head-to-head polling shows Shankland is the only Democratic candidate who beats Van Orden in the general election this November, 48-46%.

Katrina Shankland is a state representative in the Wisconsin State Assembly. In the Legislature, Katrina has passed 225 bipartisan laws, including increased access to affordable rural healthcare, help for farmers, expanded protections for first responders, and stronger clean water laws. Katrina is running for Congress to bring some common sense to the Capitol, fight against extremism, and deliver results for the hard-working people of Wisconsin.
