Women impacted by Donald Trump’s extreme abortion bans wrap up Wisconsin Tour in Eau Claire. EAU CLAIRE - Today, two women who were denied reproductive health care because of state abortion bans endorsed by Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans held a roundtable discussion in Eau Claire about the stakes for women if Trump is reelected. Kaitlyn Joshua and Amanda Zurawski were joined by state Representative Jodi Emerson and other local leaders and voters at the final stop of their three-day tour of Wisconsin. Kaitlyn and Amanda are criss-crossing the Badger State just one week after Donald Trump proudly took credit for overturning Roe v. Wade and extreme state abortion bans like the ones that prevented Amanda and Kaitlyn from accessing reproductive health care. Last week, Amanda’s story was featured in an ad released by the Biden-Harris campaign titled “Willow’s Box.” President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Democrats up and down the ticket stand with the vast majority of Americans who support a woman’s right to choose and will work to restore the protections of Roe once and for all. “Kaitlyn and I are in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, today because it will play a critical role in reelecting President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Democrats up and down the ballot – and people here are seeing firsthand what happens when you have Republican politicians who insist on inserting themselves in personal health care decisions,” said Amanda Zurawski. “Over and over again, Donald Trump brags about ‘killing’ Roe v. Wade. It is unthinkable to me that anyone could cheer on the cruel abortion bans that nearly took my life. But he does.” “This does not need to happen. What’s happened to me and Amanda is not inevitable – and we can stop it,” said Kaitlyn Joshua. “Reelecting President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Democrats up and down the ballot [is] essential to the fight for reproductive freedom. They are leading a whole-of-government effort to protect and strengthen reproductive health care access, and they are fighting to pass federal legislation to restore the protections of Roe v. Wade to ensure people in every state have access to the care they need.” Kaitlyn Joshua speaking at the roundtable “Trump owns every state ban across the country — whether it’s in Texas or Louisiana, which impacted Amanda and Kaitlyn, or in Arizona where the state Supreme Court last week reinstated a draconian ban, or here in Wisconsin, where women were left in limbo because of an 1849 law,” said state Representative Jodi Emerson. “With reproductive freedom on the ballot in November, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are the only candidates who stand up for women’s rights to make their own health care decisions.” |
