MADISON – Tuesday, Senator Dan Knodl (R - Germantown) held an informational hearing on a two-year old Legislative Audit Bureau (LAB) report of the 2020 election. The audit showed that Wisconsin’s elections were free, accurate, fair, and secure. Senate Democratic Leader Melissa Agard (D- Madison) released the following statement:

“We just witnessed the first primary debate of the 2024 election cycle and yet, Republicans are rehashing conspiracies and misinformation about the 2020 presidential election. Make no mistake, the 2020 election was administered freely and fairly, and anything said otherwise is simply an attempt to appease the extreme, MAGA base. The GOP’s obsession with Donald Trump’s Big Lie is a threat to democracy everywhere.

“I served on the Joint Audit Committee when this report was first released, and we know that the facts have not changed – Wisconsin’s elections were and continue to be safe and secure. Even the Republican Co-Chair of the 2021 Joint Legislative Audit Committee agreed.

“It is clear that Senator Dan Knodl is more interested in stirring the partisan pot than actually governing. There is no room for continued conspiracy theories and falsehoods in the State Legislature. The people of Wisconsin deserve better.”
