building-unityWill sponsor Supreme Court Candidate Forum this Saturday (2/18) at 1:00 P.M. at the Racine Public Library.

Racine, WI — Building Unity is on an over 1000-mile journey to raise awareness, excitement, and participation in the Feb. 21 and April 4 Wisconsin State Supreme Court elections. It is traveling to eight different regions of Wisconsin, and with statewide partners, hosting eight different weekly public forums and providing at least eight different weekly action opportunities for justice. The Tour is the collaborative effort of many Wisconsin social, ecological, economic and democratic justice advocacy organizations. Led by the Building Unity “VoteMobile,” the tour launched from the Wisconsin State Capitol on Feb. 7. So far, it has traveled around much of the Milwaukee, Kenosha and Racine areas working with local leaders to create pro-justice and democracy “Get-Out-The-Vote" events and activities. The VoteMobile (see link to photos below) is adorned with hand-painted signs and banners and is always advertising the next forum and the coming election dates.

The Next Forum:

Supreme Court Candidate Forum - This Saturday (2/18) - 1:00 P.M. - At the Racine Public Library - 75 Seventh St. in Racine.  Judge Everett Mitchell will participate in person.  Judge Janet Protasiewicz will participate with video recorded messages. The other two candidates have not yet responded to our invitations.

This forum can be attended in person or virtually. Zoom link for virtual attendance: https://bit.ly/supremecourt-RACINE_KENOSHA. Also live streamed to Building Unity’s Facebook Page

Immediately after this Feb. 18 forum, members of the Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha areas will send the tour off to the Janesville and Beloit areas. There it will be joined by people from that region of the state who will help it promote their upcoming  Supreme Court Forum in Beloit on Feb. 25.

After the forums and other activities in eight regions of Wisconsin, the tour will finish its eight-week journey by returning to SouthEastern Wisconsin. It will continue to celebrate the leadership of area partners who are working to turn out the vote on the last three days before the polls close on April 4.

Building Unity is a multi-group project that is working to build a multi-issue movement for peace, justice, sustainability and democracy. We must address social, political, ecological and economical emergencies that we are all facing as human beings and citizens of Earth. We are building a movement that will leave nobody out.
