MADISON - All 48 members of the Wisconsin State Democratic Caucus sent a letter to the Wisconsin Congressional Federal Delegation yesterday urging caution on the GOP’s repeal of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). In a shocking report released by the bipartisan Congressional Budget Office, the GOP replacement proposal is estimated to drastically raise health insurance premiums and cause 24 million Americans to lose their health insurance. Senator Lena Taylor (D-Milwaukee) offered the following remarks:
“Republicans seem to have forgotten that it wasn’t too long ago that tens of thousands of people were dying every year because they didn’t have health insurance. We Wisconsin Democrats are united in our opposition to this dangerous proposal, and we strongly urge that our colleagues in Congress stand up and fight back against this legislation.” The House is expected to vote on the GOP’s American Healthcare Act on Thursday. |
