katrina-shankland-2023Shankland has called on incumbent Rep. Derrick Van Orden to agree to a debate with her “Debate Me Derrick” website.

STEVENS POINT, WI – Katrina Shankland, State Rep. and Democratic candidate in Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District, released the following statement about the broadcast debate being organized at UW–La Crosse ahead of the August 13 primary election:

derrick-van-orden“A UW–La Crosse debate is a heralded tradition in our 3rd Congressional District. I’ve confirmed participating in the TV broadcast debate being organized there in July, and I’m disappointed to hear that Rebecca Cooke and Eric Wilson have declined ongoing invitations. I’ve been pushing to debate Derrick Van Orden since I launched. If you can’t debate me, how will you debate him? Voters deserve to hear from us. If not, they may simply draw the conclusion that a candidate not prepared to debate on broadcast TV is not ready for prime time.”

Following her campaign launch last fall, Shankland has called on incumbent Rep. Derrick Van Orden to agree to a debate with her “Debate Me Derrick” website: debatemederrick.com.

Katrina Shankland is a state representative in the Wisconsin State Assembly. In the Legislature, Katrina has passed 225 bipartisan laws, including increased access to affordable rural healthcare, help for farmers, expanded protections for first responders, and stronger clean water laws. Katrina is running for Congress to bring some common sense to the Capitol, fight against extremism, and deliver results for the hard-working people of Wisconsin.
