chippewa-valley-hshsMADISON, Wis. — Yesterday, WPR revealed how Joint Finance Republicans’ refusal to release $15 million in approved funding to support health care in the Chippewa Valley is already taking a toll on providers in western Wisconsin.

Eau Claire hospitals are struggling to keep up with demand for care following the closure of two hospitals and 19 care clinics in the Chippewa Valley, with a nearly 50% uptick in emergency room visits and labor and delivery care displaced for 900 pregnant moms. Remaining hospitals have been forced to treat patients in hallways and scramble anesthesia resources as a result of Joint Finance Republicans’ obstruction of crisis response funding.
