trump-tariffsAssembly at State Street Entrance of the State Capitol addresses the hardships local farmers face due to the Trump administration’s agriculture policies.

MADISON, WI - Today at 10:30 AM CT, on the same day as Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue’s visit to the Wisconsin Dairy Expo, Wisconsin Farmers Union President Darin Von Ruden and Democratic Party of Wisconsin Rural Caucus Chair Nate Timm will hold a press conference highlighting the hardships local farmers face due to the administration’s agriculture policies. Von Ruden is a third generation dairy farmer and Timm is part of a 109 year old family farm that has focused on both dairy and grain production.

When he was running for President, Donald Trump swore to farmers up and down that he had their backs and would make their lives better. But his rhetoric has turned out to be nothing more than a laundry list of broken promises. Markets are not getting bigger and better they are deteriorating; commodity prices and therefore farmers’ profits aren’t soaring they’re plummeting; and multiple dairy farms are going out of business on a daily basis.

WHAT: A press conference highlighting the hardships local farmers are facing due to the Trump administration’s agriculture policies.

WHO: Darin Von Ruden, President of Wisconsin Farmers Union and third generation dairy farmer Nate Timm, Rural Caucus Chair for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin and member of a 109 family farm

WHEN: TUESDAY, October 1, 10:30 AM CT

WHERE: State Street Entrance of the State Capitol
