MADISON - Last week, Congressman Glenn Grothman helped get Trumpcare across the finish line in the House Budget Committee by supporting the bill in the committee even though he publically voiced reservations about some aspects of the bill. One would hope that a Republican from Wisconsin would see the value in amending the widely-panned legislation estimated by the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office to eliminate health care coverage for 24 million people by 2026. Unfortunately, giving more American access to quality, affordable health care isn't a priority for Rep. Grothman.
"Rep. Glenn Grothman's amendment will stifle innovation and curtail the ambition of young entrepreneurs across Wisconsin who would otherwise lead the Fortune 500 companies of the future," said Democratic Party of Wisconsin communications director Brandon Weathersby. "When young people see the enormous cost of healthcare that they'd be forced to shoulder under Trumpcare, there's no way they will take the risks necessary to start their own business and create jobs. We already knew that Trumpcare would be a disaster for Wisconsin, but Rep. Glenn Grothman short-sighted proposal makes it even worse." |
