KEWASKUM — Gov. Tony Evers today signed Senate Bill 433, now 2019 Wisconsin Act 20, into law. This bill designates a portion of State Trunk Highway 28 as the “Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial Highway” and directs the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to erect and maintain signage for the Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial Highway and the Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial and Education Center in the village of Kewaskum.
The Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial and Education Center is a community project in the village of Kewaskum lead by a group known as Kewaskum Remembers 9/11, including Gordon and Kathy Haberman who lost their daughter Andrea in the 9/11 attacks. The memorial was built to honor the heroes who responded in the nation's time of need and to pay tribute to the nearly 3,000 lives lost. Senate Bill 433, now 2019 Wisconsin Act 20:
