MADISON – Thursday, Assembly Republicans approved Senate Joint Resolution 3 despite bipartisan opposition, and also approved a politically-charged version of Assembly Bill 1, taking action to repeal Wisconsin’s statewide mask order in the coming days. In response, Assembly Democratic Leader Gordon Hintz (D-Oshkosh) released the following statement:
“Public health is the same today as it was yesterday. Science is the same today as it was yesterday. Common sense is the same today as it was yesterday. But COVID-19 is becoming more contagious and Assembly Republicans are prioritizing undermining Governor Evers and placating an extreme anti-science movement. I was proud to join my Democratic colleagues in fighting to keep our statewide mask order and protect our constituents. We will continue to do so, no matter how many times Republicans double-down on Trump-style minimization of COVID-19 and insistence on preventing our government from helping to protect our state.” |
