andy-jorgensenMADISON – Assembly Democratic Leader Peter Barca (D-Kenosha) announced today that Rep. Andy Jorgensen (D-Milton) will not run for re-election to the Assembly this fall.

peter_barca“It has been a pleasure to serve alongside Rep. Jorgensen for the past eight years, including four years where he served as Chair of the Assembly Democratic Caucus," said Barca in his statement. "Rep. Jorgensen has shown tremendous leadership in our caucus and played a crucial role in advancing our Democratic agenda focused on creating jobs, strengthening public education and improving economic opportunity for all our citizens."

Perhaps Rep. Jorgensen’s greatest accomplishment was when he led two separate successful efforts to save SeniorCare. By collecting petition signatures, working with stakeholders and raising awareness on this issue, Rep. Jorgensen helped preserve a life-saving Wisconsin program that also saves participants and taxpayers tens of millions of dollars every year.

“As those who have met Rep. Jorgensen at town halls, community events, grocery stores and countless other places throughout the 43rd District can attest, he has always been an accessible, passionate and dedicated legislator who truly cares about his constituents and our state," said Barca. "We wish him and his family the best of luck in their future endeavors.”
