marsha-laningMILWAUKEE – Delegates to the Democratic Party of Wisconsin’s 2015 State Convention elected Martha Laning Saturday to serve as Party chair for a two year term beginning immediately and running through the 2017 State Convention.

More than 1,349 delegates -- party members from all over the state -- cast a vote in the spirited race to lead the Party heading into a critical election year that will see Wisconsin Democrats send Russ Feingold to the U.S. Senate, deliver Wisconsin’s 10 electoral votes for our next Democratic president, and grow our numbers in the state Assembly and state Senate.

Laning, a lifelong Wisconsinite and Democrat, brings to the Party a strong fundraising background, a positive, values-based message, and a history of taking action to make a real difference in communities all over the state.

“Today I thank not only the Party members all over the state who supported me, but also my opponents in this race who helped us have an honest conversation about the challenges facing our Party and our state, and more importantly -- how we will work together for a better Wisconsin,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Martha Laning said Saturday. “Throughout my career I’ve earned a reputation for bringing diverse groups of people together and getting things done because we share those progressive values. And that’s how I’ll move the Democratic Party of Wisconsin forward, by bringing everyone together to create a strong new vision for our Party.”
