MADISON - We are heartbroken by the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a true champion for women's equality and our democracy. Sadly, despite our grief, we must be ready to call on our senators to focus on what is right for this nation and our democracy.

In the two weeks remaining in this session, the Senate still must pass a continuing resolution to fund the government, as well as pass a comprehensive bill to address the Coronavirus including important funding for local and state governments, unemployed workers, the Postal Service, and necessary funding to ensure safe, fair and accessible elections.

The Senate does not have time to rigorously vet a new Supreme Court Justice in addition to addressing the nation's urgent economic and healthcare needs. Furthermore, a rushed confirmation at this critical time will only serve to undermine the legitimacy of Senate and the Supreme Court in the eyes of the American people.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg devoted her life to protecting our rights and championing equality for all. We must honor her legacy by demanding the values she stood for are not undermined in an effort to rush through an appointment that would only further polarize America.
