MADISON - Wisconsin State Senators Janet Bewley and Dave Hansen sent the attached letter to Attorney General Brad Schimel on Friday seeking action to hold pharmaceutical manufacturers to account for their role in the state’s opioid crisis.

dave-hansen-gbThe Senators offered an amendment (Senate Amendment 1 to Special Session Assembly Bill 5) on June 14 calling on the Attorney General to report on the prospects of legal action against pharmaceutical companies. Attorney General Schimel announced plans to study the potential the next morning.

Bewley and Hansen noted in their letter that at least two dozen Wisconsin counties have since joined in action against major pharmaceutical companies on their own and asked the AG to support their efforts.
