Mike AubingerThe passing of Mike Aubinger will leave a void not only in the lives of his family and all who knew him, but in every resident of Ashwaubenon and the Green Bay area.

GREEN BAY - We learned today that Ashwaubenon Village President Mike Aubinger has died. According to local FOX 11 News, Ashwaubenon clerk/treasurer Patrick Moynihan Jr. made the announcement Friday morning.

Only yesterday, we learned from the Green Bay Press Gazette that Aubinger had taken an indefinite leave of absence for medical reasons. Aubinger had been ill for several weeks before submitting a letter on Monday requesting leave.

Aubinger, who suffered from melanoma, a type of skin cancer, was replaced on an interim basis by Trustee Mary Kardoskee as village president.

Green Bay State Senator Dave Hansen released the following statement on the local leader:

dave-hansen“The passing of Mike Aubinger will leave a void not only in the lives of his family and all who knew him, but in every resident of Ashwaubenon and the Green Bay area whether or not they ever had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know him.

“That’s because we have all benefitted from the leadership he provided, not only as the President of the Village of Ashwaubenon, but as person who used his considerable talents and knowledge to improve the quality of life for all who live here. Whether your child attended a public school in Ashwaubenon, you or your family used a local library in Brown County, read The Press, or own or work at a business in Ashwaubenon you likely have benefitted from Mike’s tireless efforts to improve our area’s quality of life.

“My thoughts and prayers go out to Mike’s family and friends.”
