Green Bay, WI - The City of Green Bay is providing free sandbags, to help residents mitigate flood damage to their basements.

Residents may pick up sandbags from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday 4/23 and Friday 4/24 at 420 S. Broadway (the former Badger Sheet Metal Building). Enter on the south side and go to the rear.

Sandbags will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is a limit of fifty (50) sandbags per parcel. We will have personnel on-site to direct traffic, but residents will need to load their own sandbags.. Please review the weight load limits of your vehicle. Each sandbag weighs forty (40) pounds.  Check our Facebook post for images, which show proper sandbag stacking.

Please bring some form of identification (ID) as proof of City residency.

Once a resident takes possession of the sandbags, they become the resident’s property.  Residents are responsible for proper disposal.  Please do not place used sandbags in City garbage or recycling bins.

The Fox River and Lake Michigan water levels remain near record highs, so residents need to be prepared for future flooding events.  To get up-to-the-minute instructions and information, please sign up for Code RED at https://greenbaywi.gov/CodeRED.
