pfas-contaminationMADISON – Thursday, Senator Agard joined her Democratic colleagues in the Legislature in introducing comprehensive legislation to combat PFAS contamination across Wisconsin. State Senator Melissa Agard (D-Madison) released the following statement:

melissa-agard-2022“I am proud to join my Democratic colleagues in introducing a bill that delivers long-overdue solutions to one of Wisconsin’s most pressing issues: PFAS contamination. PFAS have been detected in over 120 communities across the state, creating negative health and environmental effects that impact Wisconsin’s individuals and families, local businesses, and our ecosystem. The proposal put out today is the most comprehensive piece of legislation to take on the challenges PFAS present across Wisconsin.

“If we want to build a strong future for Wisconsin, we need healthy and safe communities all over the state. We must ensure that the water coming out of every faucet is safe to drink, our governmental units and local communities have the tools necessary to remediate PFAS contamination, and corporations that pollute and threaten the well-being of our people and environment are held accountable for their actions. Every Wisconsinite has a right to clean drinking water, period.”
