ron-johnsonSenator Ron Johnson isn't listening to the people he represents by voting to advance the repeal of the Affordable Care Act.

MADISON - After weeks of playing coy, Senator Ron Johnson today cast one of the last two votes to move forward with debate on the latest disastrous Trumpcare idea to repeal the Affordable Care Act without any plan to protect the health insurance of hundreds of thousands of hard-working Wisconsin families.

When Senator Ron Johnson woke up this morning, he had no idea what version of the bill he would ultimately be voting for. Ahead of the vote, Senator Johnson told reporters on Capitol Hill, “I don't have a clue what we're gonna be voting on." Yet, Senator Ron Johnson still voted to continue the process to take away health care from up to 32 million people.

Senator Ron Johnson isn't listening to the people he represents by voting to advance the repeal of the Affordable Care Act and strip health care insurance away from hard working Wisconsin families," said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesman Brandon Weathersby. "Republicans must stop abandoning everyday families. Instead, they should work with Democrats on a bill that abandons repeal, abandons cuts to Medicaid, abandons tax cuts for the wealthy, and is done in regular order and not behind closed doors."

seniorsCall or email WI Senators Ron Johnson and Tammy Baldwin to urge them to vote NO on these bills!

MADISON - URGENT!  Our friends at Kids Forward (formerly Wis. Council on Children and Families) has alerted us that Tuesday the U.S. Senate will decide whether to move forward with their unpopular health care bill or vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act with no plan to replace it. Either option would result in thousands of Wisconsinites losing their health coverage:

-- The Better Care and Reconciliation Act (BCRA) would leave millions of Americans without access to affordable insurance, strangle Medicaid over the next decade, and likely weaken employer-based coverage.

-- The Obamacare Repeal Reconciliation Act (ORRA), which would repeal the Affordable Care Act without replacing it, would be even worse for Wisconsin.

Please call or email our WI senators and urge them to vote NO on these bills!

donald-trumpTrumpCare will drive up costs for middle-class families, strip health care insurance from 15 million people next year and 22 million people by 2026, leave people with pre-existing conditions unprotected, and puts essential health benefits in jeopardy.

MADISON - The following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Martha Laning with regards to the Congressional Budget Office's (CBO) score of the Senate Trumpcare bill released today:

martha-laning"The CBO score released today confirms that Trumpcare will only spell disaster for the American people. It will drive up costs for middle-class families, strip health care insurance from 15 million people next year - and 22 million people by 2026, leave people with pre-existing conditions unprotected, and puts essential health benefits like maternity care, opioid treatment, and mental health services in jeopardy. The only people who stand to gain from Trumpcare are the millionaires, billionaires, and corporations who will receive billions of dollars in tax giveaways.

scott-walker-dodger"Republicans like Governor Scott Walker and Senator Ron Johnson don't think this bill goes far enough. They want even deeper cuts to Medicaid which would result in even more Wisconsinites cut off from care and would cost taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars down the road.

"Democrats fought tooth-and-nail to pass the Affordable Care Act because health care is a right for all Americans, not a privilege for just the wealthy. The ACA insured millions of Americans, we should be looking to build on the ACA and expand health coverage for even more people in our country. We've made progress and we can't stop now. Wisconsin Democrats will continue fighting to protect health care for working people and the most vulnerable Wisconsinites in our state."

senate-healthcareRepublicans have crafted a bill that is another handout of tax dollars to millionaires and billionaires at the expense of everyday Americans.

MADISON – Assembly Democratic Leader Peter Barca (D – Kenosha) commented on the new Congressional Budget Office (CBO) analysis of the U.S. Senate’s bill on Monday intended to repeal the Affordable Care Act:

peter-barca“This bill isn’t just mean, as President Trump characterized the House bill; it’s cruel,” said Rep. Barca. “I wonder if Republicans in Congress are actually listening to the American public. If they were, they’d hear loud, resounding opposition to a bill that throws 22 million people off health care. For weeks, Senate Republicans have crafted their bill behind closed doors. The result is another handout of our hard-earned tax dollars to millionaires and billionaires at the expense of everyday Americans. Maybe Republicans have given up on doing the right thing. Wisconsin and all of America deserve better.”

PutinDuffy told Fox News host Martha MacCallum "And my concern, Martha, is what the hell are we investigating?"

MADISON - As Attorney General Jeff Sessions begins to testify to rebut the testimony of former FBI Director James Comey, Rep. Sean Duffy doesn't seem to know what the Department of Justice is investigating in the first place.

During an interview with Fox News, Rep. Sean Duffy told host Martha MacCallum "And my concern, Martha, is what the hell are we investigating?" In the same interview, Duffy also asked, “Why are we going through this charade of an investigation when there’s no evidence that Donald Trump had anything to do with the Russians?”
