MADISON – During Tuesday’s oral arguments in front of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, Chief Justice Roggensack made concerning remarks about COVID-19. These comments stating that COVID-19 is only spreading through people in meat-packing plants and not “the regular folks” who work elsewhere are out of touch with reality.

staush-gruszynskiRepresentative Gruszynski (D-Green Bay) released to following statement.

“The comments made yesterday by Chief Justice Roggensach are unfounded and out of touch with reality. Science has proven time and time again that COVID-19 is a highly communicable virus, which does not discriminate based on your economic status, where you live, or where you work. These attacks on the working class of Brown County by the Chief Justice, as well as the comments by Justice Rebecca Bradley, further prove how out of touch our justices are with this health and economic crisis, and the reality citizens are facing here every day. At a time when local, county, and state officials are coming together in an unprecedented way to combat this outbreak in Brown County, these comments fly in the face of all of their hard work and sacrifice to protect the people of Northeast Wisconsin."
