MADISON - It's not just Republicans in Washington who can't pass major legislation, Republican governors around the nation are struggling to pass state budgets, including the head of the Republican Governor's Association (RGA), Gov. Scott Walker.

Six days into the new fiscal year and Scott Walker is yet to sign a 2017-19 biennial budget. Despite Republicans being in complete control of state government, party leaders continue to disagree on how to fund fixing our state's crumbling roads and bicker over how much funds to cut from public education.

Wisconsin is not alone in its struggle to enact a budget. Republican-led Illinois, Maine and New Jersey all failed to pass a state budget before the July 1st deadline, resulting in partial government shutdowns.

“It's hard to find a Republican-controlled government actually doing its job and making life better for hard-working families. As head of the RGA, Gov. Scott Walker is the poster child for Republican failures across the board," said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesman Brandon Weathersby. "In Wisconsin, families want their public schools fully funded and their roads fixed, they can't wait any longer for Republicans to get their act together. If Republicans are willing to reach across the aisle, Democrats are ready to answer the call to create long-term, bi-partisan solutions to the state's budget woes and provide some certainty for households across Wisconsin."
