MADISON, WI – Senator Tim Carpenter (D-Milwaukee) offered the Democratic weekly radio address today. In his radio message, Sen. Carpenter encouraged residents to help protect access to affordable prescription medication through SeniorCare.

tim-carpenter“Our seniors deserve the security of knowing that their prescription drug program is safe from budgetary cuts and will continue to be there for them on a permanent basis. I call on legislators on both sides of the aisle to pass the SeniorCare Protection Act and to demonstrate that some things are above the partisan fray.” - Sen. Tim Carpenter

A written transcript of the address is below:

“Hello, this is State Senator Tim Carpenter and I’m sending out an S.O.S. to “Save Our SeniorCare.” There is nothing more important for Wisconsin seniors than knowing that the programs that they rely on for their prescription drugs are safe from unnecessary cuts and undue changes.

“One such program is SeniorCare. SeniorCare provides prescription drug assistance to some of Wisconsin’s most vulnerable senior citizens and has twice had to be saved from Republican budget cuts. This is why I am once again introducing the SeniorCare Protection Act.

“This bill would ensure that all federal waivers are sought to continue SeniorCare, as well as, ensure that any excess funds that SeniorCare generates through savings are fed back into SeniorCare.

“Our seniors deserve the security of knowing that their prescription drug program is safe from budgetary cuts and will continue to be there for them on a permanent basis. I call on legislators on both sides of the aisle to pass the SeniorCare Protection Act and to demonstrate that some things are above the partisan fray. Thank you!”
