RHINELANDER, WI – This past Tuesday, August 23rd, State Senate Candidate Bryan Van Stippen held a listening session in Rhinelander that offered local residents an opportunity to share their thoughts on the direction Wisconsin is heading,

bryan-van-stippen“During the session, the topics of education, local control, and political gridlock were often discussed,” mentioned Van Stippen in a statement. “Our local families have watched as their legislators have taken control away from their communities on dozens of issues. Meanwhile, their communities have had to resort to referendums to keep their public schools afloat after general state aid was cut by 11% since 2010.”

Midway through the session, one resident mentioned that his community was forced to go to “referendum after referendum after referendum, just to keep the lights on and the doors open” at their local schools.

“Over the last six years, it’s become crystal clear that our legislators up here in the Northwoods do not represent our best interests. I’m running for State Senate to change that,” Van Stippen added. “As I talk to folks around the 12th State Senate District, one common theme has emerged. Folks are speaking out against the political gridlock that has left northern Wisconsin behind.”

“Understanding these concerns and hearing these ideas will help me every day as your next State Senator. If elected, I will work tirelessly to restore control to our local communities, reinvest in our rural public schools, and work across the aisle to pass commonsense legislation that helps our local residents,” Van Stippen concluded.
