janet-bewleyMADISON – Today, Senator Janet Bewley offered the following Democratic Weekly Radio address encouraging Wisconsinites to attend their local county fair.

"I encourage everyone to get out to your local County Fair.  Bring your family, invite your friends, talk to your neighbors.  You’ll be glad you did.  And your community will be a better place for it."

- Sen. Janet Bewley

A written transcript of the address is below:

"Hi, this is State Senator Janet Bewley. One of the best things about summer in Wisconsin is going to a County Fair.  In addition to being a lot of fun, these events help build and sustain our sense of community. County Fairs are so popular that multiple counties proudly claim that theirs is the oldest in the state.

"With all the funnel cakes to be eaten, ribbons to be awarded, rides to be enjoyed and animals to be seen, it’s easy to forget that County Fairs inspire our children to learn and develop skills that help keep our rural roots alive. County Fairs provide an opportunity for people from all walks of life to experience a part of our history, support the local economy and share a great day in the sun, on the grandstand or at the ice cream stand.

"I’m lucky to represent the largest of the state’s 33 Senate Districts. My district includes all or part of 13 counties.  I’ll be doing my best to get to as many of the County Fairs in my district as I can.  Wisconsin has more fairs than it does counties.  I encourage everyone to get out to your local County Fair.  Bring your family, invite your friends, talk to your neighbors.  You’ll be glad you did.  And your community will be a better place for it."
