MADISON - At tonight's Republican National Convention, you can expect Rep. Sean Duffy to talk about supporting our men and women in the military. However, his record shows anything but.

duffy-stallingRep. Duffy voted against legislation that would ensure soldiers receive their more than deserved pay in the event in a government shutdown. But just one year earlier, Duffy voted against legislation that would cut his own pay under the same circumstances.

"It is shameful that Sean Duffy would vote to protect his own salary but not those of the brave men and women in uniform who are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our country," Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesman Brandon Weathersby said on Tuesday. "Right wing, tea-party extremists like Sean Duffy are willing to shut down the government and refuse American soldiers their paycheck, while complaining that he does not get paid enough as a congressman."

Duffy previously stated that his $170,000 salary, which is nearly six times larger than what the average Wisconsinite takes home, isn't enough money for him. While Sean Duffy may think he and his tea-party extremist pals are entitled to a paycheck when they shut down the government, he also thinks those brave men and women who put their lives on the line are not entitled to the same treatment.
