ron-johnsonWASHINGTON - Ignoring the loss of over 74,000 Wisconsin jobs due to past free trade agreements, Senator Ron Johnson voted today to allow Congress to "fast-track" the job-killing Trans-Pacific Partnership.

The agreement would allow corporate interests to repeat history and ship American jobs overseas devastating even more American workers and middle class families.

"The Senate is making a disastrous mistake by allowing Congress to ram through another free trade agreement that will harm Wisconsin families and workers. Supporters of this trade deal have yet to explain why this deal will be different from previous deals, which promised the moon yet cost Wisconsin and our nation a huge amount of manufacturing jobs. I wasn't fooled by past trade agreements, and I don't think people should be fooled by this one," said Russ Feingold.

Senator Ron Johnson has unabashedly supported job-killing free trade agreements and gone so far as to laud agreements that shutter Wisconsin factories and push Wisconsin workers into unemployment as "creative destruction."

"The Trans-Pacific Partnership is a dangerous mistake that once again allows Ron Johnson to put the interests of big corporations and billionaires over the needs of Wisconsin families. Ron Johnson inexplicably believes closing factories in America and opening them in China is good for Wisconsin's economy. It's time for Senator Johnson to come clean and admit to Wisconsin's middle class that he's not looking out for them, he's looking out for the billionaires who back him," said Russ for Wisconsin campaign manager Tom Russell.
