MILWAUKEE – Wisconsin Democrats will this Saturday, April 25th, gather in Milwaukee to celebrate the Democratic Party of Wisconsin’s 2015 Founders Day Gala featuring keynote speaker, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Mayor de Blasio is a strong Democratic leader and true progressive. As mayor of our country's largest city, Bill de Blasio is taking dead aim at the income inequality crisis that is hurting too many families and workers. Mayor de Blasio is fighting to ensure every single child has access to a great education, like his groundbreaking program to provide every 4-year-old in New York City with quality, full-day pre-kindergarten. He is standing up to give all New Yorkers a fair shot by lifting wages -- including fighting for a minimum wage hike -- and securing workplace protections like paid sick leave. And Mayor de Blasio knows one of the greatest crushes on a family's pocketbook is the cost of housing. New York City's ambitious plan will create or preserve 200,000 units of affordable housing over the next ten years -- enough to house almost the population of Milwaukee. These are the progressive reforms Mayor de Blasio is pushing to tackle income inequality and end the affordability crisis for New York City's working people and families.

But as we celebrate progressive values, the evening must include a focus on the race towards 2016, where we will reclaim those values that made Wisconsin great. This year is a springboard for Wisconsin Democrats to put ourselves in a clear position to take back Russ Feingold’s U.S. Senate seat, deliver Wisconsin’s 10 electoral votes for our next Democratic President, and make gains in the state legislature.
