MADISON, Wis. — Fifty-eight years ago this Sunday, millions of American seniors gained access to critical health care services when Medicare became law. Out of touch politicians like Tom Tiffany and Eric Hovde want to gut Medicare and make health care more expensive for Wisconsin seniors.

• Tiffany twice voted against protecting Medicare from automatic cuts, instead voting to “slash billions of dollars” from the program.
• Tiffany helped write a Republican budget proposal that would gut Medicare and turn it into a voucher system.
• Tiffany helped write a plan that called for raising the retirement age for Social Security and Medicare, cutting benefits.

Eric Hovde

• Hovde said he would “absolutely” support cutting Medicare benefits and raising the retirement age.
• Hovde praised a GOP budget proposal to cut $205 billion from Medicare, and said he wanted to go even further and bigger with his cuts.
