russ-feingoldMILWAUKEE – A new Marquette Law School Poll released today shows Russ Feingold is supported by 50 percent of registered voters, with Republican incumbent Ron Johnson receiving 37 percent. In November, Feingold was at 49 percent and Johnson was at 38 percent.

The poll is evidence that Feingold is still in a very strong position in these early months of 2016, despite nearly $2 million in ads run against him, and a constant barrage of negative and misleading attacks from Senator Johnson and his supporters.

ron-johnsonA few key points from this most recent poll:

  • Feingold is leading the head-to-head 50-37, up from the November Marquette poll. While it is still a long way off to the November elections, but Feingold’s lead in every public poll to date means he's off to a good start.
  • Feingold continues to enjoy strong favorability. His +14 rating (44-30) is a full 21 points higher than the incumbent Senator Johnson. These numbers seem to indicate that Wisconsin voters appreciate Feingold’s willingness to listen to them and his commitment to helping working families get ahead in this economy.
  • By contrast, Senator Johnson continues to be one of the most unpopular Senators in the nation, reaching a new low with 26 percent of Wisconsinites viewing him favorably.

Feingold will spend much of this week on a tour of Wisconsin colleges and universities, listening to students at UW River Falls, UW Eau Claire, Marquette University, UW Whitewater and UW Waukesha. By contrast, Senator Johnson spent much of this week explaining why he missed most of his Homeland Security hearings in the years leading up to his re-election.
